









Cory Culbertson has taught engineering technology at U-High for over 25 years. He has a BSE in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MS in Technology Education from Illinois State University, where his masters thesis was awarded the CTE Outstanding Research Award. He has led professional development in engineering education for teachers across the country and is co-author of Engineering in the Life Sciences.
Mr. Culbertson works hard to lead classes that are enjoyable, challenging, and valuable for students' future college and career plans.
Marlene Urbina is a first-year teacher at University High School and an alumna of Illinois State University, where she was a Bone Scholar graduating with honors and received the CTE Student Recognition of Excellence Award.
Ms. Urbina is passionate about hands-on, project-based learning that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and real-world application. She has experience developing lessons for both Illinois State University and Chicago Public Schools, with a focus on engineering design and emerging technologies. She strives to create learning environments where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired.
